Resources for Students
This short list is not comprehensive but rather is meant to help you get started....

The best of the best:

International Horn Society
This site is perhaps the best resource for all things horn, including lists of everything you need as a horn player and up to date information on upcoming horn events.

IMSLP Petrucci Music Library

This site is dedicated to sharing music currently available in the public domain, which is A LOT, and you can view, download and print tons of great pieces!

YouTube
Search for Horn Solo, and look for clips that look professional. If you are just getting started on horn, I suggest you start with Mozart and Strauss.

Other Great Resources

Fingering Chart or Fingering Chart
Both of these charts provide fingerings for the double horn.

Blank Sheet Music
Design and print your own staff paper! You choose clef, time and key signature, then print. Great for writing your own cadenza or exercises.

Metronome Online
If you want to use your computer as a free metronome, bookmark this accessible and free online metronome for your practice sessions!

Online Stores for Horn

These online stores sell new and/or used horns and accessories. Several also do repairs.

Osmun

Pope Instrument Repair

Woodwind & Brasswind

Music Books & Sheet Music

Great Online Stores for Sheet Music

Amazon

Eble Music

Sheet Music Plus

Accessories & Supplies

Essential for Good Practice
You and the horn :-)
Chair without arms
Music stand

Metronome & Tuner
Appropriate music books

Metronome & Tuner: Online, App or Physical?
A tuner and metronome are essential. I like the Korg CA-30 and Dr. Boss products but there are online tuners and metronomes and great apps such as Tonal Energy and Cleartune.

Basic Horn Care Supplies
Oil, Grease, Snakebrush, Mouthpiece brush

*Please check out my recommendations about horn maintenance supplies in my August 2016 blog.

Other Supplies
Rotor valve string, small screwdriver, sharp scissors

*For help fixing a broken string on your horn, please see my July 2016 blog.
