Online Lesson InformationEach lesson is tailored to the individual student's specific goals.
Online lessons provide a professional teacher's insights, experience, and expertise in the convenience of your own home. Online lessons reduce unnecessary travel expenses, stress and time pressures involved with the complex schedules of busy families. Lessons are conducted through videoconferencing via various platforms, including Skype, FaceTime, and Google Hangouts. Students can use an iPhone, iPad, or a computer with internal or external microphone, speakers, and camera. |

Technical Requirements
Basic Requirements 1. Internet access 2. Videoconferencing Software: FaceTime, Skype, or Google Hangout 3. An iPad, iPhone, or computer with video camera, speaker, and microphone Recommended Requirements 1. Headphones and an external USB microphone will improve the sound quality and overall experience. 2. Please check that your external microphone is being recognized and used by your computer before a lesson. 3. Please re-start your computer before lessons for optimal performance. Set-Up Lessons work best in a well-lit room where the main light source is not directly behind the student (such as a window). The video camera can be set up so that I can see the student's embouchure and left-hand position. The student's music can be set up on a music stand near the videocamera. It often works well if the music is set up to the right of the camera. Student Initiates Lessons To prevent us from calling each other at the same time and getting busy signals, students call me when it is their lesson time. Please set up for your lesson and warmup prior to the start of your lesson. Be prompt and call when it is your lesson time. I cannot extend your lesson into the next student's lesson time. |
Online Lessons Scheduling & Rescheduling

Scheduling
When you register for lessons, we will schedule a regular lesson time (for example, Thursdays at 5:00 PM) for your lesson. Rescheduling I will make every effort to reschedule a lesson with adequate notice. Students must give a minimum of 48 hours notice if they will be missing a lesson in order to receive credit for the lesson. I do not issue refunds. If you cancel a lesson, you will receive credit for a future lesson provided that you cancelled at least 48 hours before the lesson. If I cancel a lesson, you will also receive credit. Payments Lesson payments are made in advance and may be monthly or quarterly. Payments can be made either by check or with online banking options, ie., online transfers. Please contact me for more details. Initial 4 Lessons I recommend that students commit to 4 lessons initially so that both the student and I are comfortable with the fit before proceeding further. This time frame gives us a chance to get to know each other and have a better idea of how lessons are working. Lesson Length 30 minute lessons are usually best for beginners and younger students. More advanced and older students can consider all three lesson times depending on their practice time and goals. After the first few months of playing horn, students can practice the same length of time as their lesson, at least 5 days a week. |
